A new audit has revealed that nearly half of the American President Joe Biden’s followers on Twitter are fake. This audit, which was done for the social media platform by SparkToro software firm, confirmed that 49,3% of Biden’s 22,2 million Twitter followers are bogus.

The audit found the results related to Biden’s followers on his official Twitter account @POTUS after an “analysis of several factors, including location issues, default profile images, and new users,” according to a Newsweek article.

The SparkToro tool is available online and can help users check how many of their followers are fake.

Fake Followers on Twitter

SparkToro firm has defined fake followers as “unreachable accounts that will not see the account’s tweets, either because they’re spam, bots, propaganda, or because they’re no longer active on Twitter.”

Elon Musk, the Tesla CEO trying to buy the social media giant, has already expressed his concern over a large number of Twitter fake accounts and “proposed a potential crackdown on the sham accounts.” However, this potential crackdown may also make Twitter users like president Joe Biden lose a remarkable number of followers.

The Twitter Deal on Hold Over Fake Accounts

According to Newsweek, Musk recently stated that “ his $44-billion deal to purchase the social media company could not go ahead until issues with fake accounts were resolved.”
The Tesla executive chef has claimed that 20% of Twitter accounts were fake accounts, “ Yesterday, Twitter's CEO publicly refused to show proof of <5%. This deal cannot move forward until he does,” Musk wrote on his official Twitter account.

Twitter CEO Parag Agrawal has exchanged a series of Tweets with Musk and said: “ We suspend over half a million spam accounts every day, usually before any of you even see them on Twitter. We also lock millions of accounts each week that we suspect may be spam if they can't pass human verification challenges.”

Many discussions sparked about the fake Twitter followers and Musk using this issue to get a better deal to buy Twitter.
