The Claim

An Oklahoma City McDonald’s was caught with horse meat and human meat in their freezers.

Emerging story

Past rumors about Aldi supermarkets accidentally using horse meat in their products (True) and McDonald’s restaurants using worms as filler in their hamburgers (False) have continued to evolve and grow memetically with the claim that a McDonald’s in Oklahoma City was caught with human and horse meat in the freezer. The claim, first published on Huzlers.com, has subsequently gone viral on social media, including Twitter.

Misbar’s Analysis

Misbar’s investigation into this claim reveals it to be false. Huzlers is an established Fake News website which specifically describes itself as a “prank” site, and has a solid history of fabricating stories. However, many websites and social media users have circulated this claim nevertheless, as if it were genuine news. In reality, McDonald’s has not been accused of such in recent memory, and it would be a big story if it were, since it is a major food distributor both in the US and in the world.
