Misbarā€™s Analysis

Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (AOC) and Senator Ed Markey recently brought forth their version of the Green New Deal to the senate. The Green New Deal would cause a huge shift in how the economy functions, changing everything from power sources to building codes. It did not pass the senate.

Some argue that Biden’s plan is pretty similar to the Green New Deal, so it’s under fire again. In multiple speeches, Trump mocked the Green New Deal, saying that the change in building codes would result in exclusively tiny windows.

Misbar’s investigation found that while windows can be inefficient in regard to insulation, there’s nothing in the Green New Deal that regulates their size. It would incentive people to use energy saving materials, plant shade trees, and so on.

It’s worth noting that there are many forms of the Green New Deal. The Green Party has been running on that platform for years. While Biden’s plan may have some similarities to AOC’s Green New Deal, his is not as extreme.
