The Claim

Sen. Kelly Loeffler, R-Ga wore a wire during her debate against Rev. Raphael Warnock.

Emerging story

In December 2020, rumors began circulating on social media that Kelly Loeffler was wearing a wire during her debate against Raphael Warnock.
Users across social media continued to push this claim.

Misbar’s Analysis

Misbar's team has determined that the claim is false. We watched the debate between Loeffler and Warnock and saw no evidence of a wire concealed by Loeffler.
Additionally, the debate, which was hosted by the Atlanta Press Club
tweeted that there was no audio assistance provided to either candidate.

This is
not the first time a candidate in a political debate has been falsely accused of wearing a wire. Hillary Clinton was accused of wearing one during a debate against Donald Trump in 2016. Joe Biden was also falsely accused of wearing a wire during his first debate with President Trump in 2020.
After reviewing the footage of the debate, followed by the statement put out by the Atlanta Press Club, we rate the claim as false.
