The Claim

An Israeli flight to Morocco crossed over Algeria.

Emerging story

After Morocco announced the “resumption of relations” with Israel, news that the first flight from Israel to Morocco crossed over Algeria started circulating. Social media users claimed Ivanka Trump wanted to take a picture of Algeria, and that why they crossed above it.

Misbar’s Analysis

Misbar found the circulating claim false. After tracing the flight movement tracking code, it was found that flights from Tel Aviv to Rabat never crossed the Algerian territory, instead, it passed over Italy, Spain, and the Mediterranean. ِAccording to the Middle East Monitorboth countries Algeria and Tunisia have blocked the Israeli airplane from using their airspaces on its way to Rabat, forcing it to take an indirect route through Europe.
The Israeli airplane was compelled to take a northern route that passes over the Mediterranean Sea.
