The Claim

The Egyptian Foreign Ministry strongly condemned the violent handling of the demonstrators by the US security forces.

Emerging story

As Donald Trump’s supporters stormed a session of Congress, news that Egypt condemns the US security forces started circulating.

Egyptian users claimed that Americans has to start respecting democracy and to stop suppressing the protests ongoing. Users have shared a picture from Sky News Arabia with Donald Trump's picture claiming that the Egyptian Foreign Ministry strongly condemned the violent treatment of the demonstrators by the US security forces.

Misbar’s Analysis

Misbar's investigation found the circulating claim misleading. We didn't find any official press statements or any comment from the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs about the protests held by the supporters of US President Donald Trump. However, the real image that has been fabricated was published by Sky News Arabia holding a different message.
"Trump asks his supporters to go home."

The post from Sky New Arabia has been morphed and edited to spread misleading news.
The Egyptian Foreign Ministry hasn't condemned the US security forces, or even comment on the latest ongoing situation in the USA.
