The Claim

A “Capitol Invasion” Lego set featuring publicized members of the mob that stormed the U.S. Capitol was released months before the January 6, 2021 Washington, D.C. riot.

Emerging story

Following the insurrection at the U.S. Capitol on January 6, 2021, rumors began circulating on social media that a Lego set showing what happened not only existed, but was released two months prior to the event.

Misbar’s Analysis

The Misbar team has determined the claim is false. The attack on the U.S. Capitol occurred on January 6. The image originally appeared in a January 7, 2021 Facebook post from Adam The Creator. The “About” section of his Facebook page is described as “daily memes and fake products from the mind of Adam Padilla.”

The image itself even contains an “adam.the.creator” branding.

Lego has no record of creating the set, and the first image of this wasn’t reported until January 7 – one day after the event. We rate the claim as false.
