Emerging story

A picture of a wounded woman lying on the road goes viral online. The image is being shared on social media to claim that it shows the murder of journalist Pragya Mishra.

Users claimed that Mishra was murdered in broad daylight because she talked about Kumbh Mela in the era of coronavirus.

Disturbing visuals are also circulating with the same claim on WhatsApp, Facebook, and Twitter.

Misbar investigation discovers that the woman in the circulating claim is not Mishara, but Neela, a hospital staffer, is stabbed to death.

According to India Today, a woman was stabbed to death by her husband at a market in Delhi on Saturday. The Indian Express reported, “Neelu was rushed to Sanjay Gandhi Hospital, but doctors declared her dead on arrival. The accused, who works at a marriage bureau, told police he recently got married to Neelu and was not happy with her job at Safdarjung Hospital.”

Journalist Pragya Mishra also tweeted that she is safe and is at home due to COVID-19 protocol. “The news about my murder is a rumor,” she confirmed.
