The Claim

An Emirates flight attendant stood on top of the Burj Khalifa tower in Dubai in an advert for the airline.

Emerging story

A video advert from Emirates has gone viral on social media. The advert, which celebrates UAE being moved to the United Kingdom's amber list, depicts an Emirates Airlines flight attendant in full uniform atop the Burj Khalifa. The Burj is the tallest building in the world and stands at 828 meters high.

Misbar’s Analysis

MENA: There was much initial skepticism surrounding the advert and people questioning if it was real. This prompted the Emirates airline to release a behind-the-scenes video as proof that the advert was real. The video was shot without a green screen or special effects, and flight attendant Nicole Smith-Ludvik did complete the advert standing on top of Burj Khalifa.

However, the Misbar team found the circulating claim to be selective. Although the flight attendant Nicole is a part of the Emirates cabin crew, users failed to share that she is also a stunt woman and skydiving instructor who gives her the expertise to pull this off along with a large team behind her.

According to Emirates, Nicole was selected through a casting call put out to the cabin crew. Due to her experience, she was chosen to ensure the highest levels of safety.
