Misbar’s Analysis

Misbar’s investigation concluded that the image has been digitally altered. While the photo does come from NASA, the original image does not include the camels and humans in the background. The photo was taken back in 2012 by NASA’s Curiosity rover. While it’s possible to access videos and images from the Curiosity mission, NASA does not offer a live feed from the rover.

The Curiosity rover landed on Mars in 2012 with the primary mission of discovering whether or not Mars is, or ever was, suitable for life. The Curiosity mission yielded quite a few interesting discoveries during its time on the red planet. This includes evidence of ancient lakes, the presence of organic matter, and mysterious spikes of methane gas.

As of August 24, 2021, Curiosity is still active on Mars with NASA offering regular mission updates. Unfortunately, as of now, the rover has yet to find any camels roaming across the barren planet.
