On September 11, users began sharing a photo of actor Chris Evans wearing a shirt that says, “Keep America Trumpless,” referring to former U.S. President Donald Trump. The photo was liked over 10,000 times, with one user commenting, “Chris Evans is one of our most powerful allies and advocates.”

Misbar’s analysis found that the photo has been manipulated: Evans was not wearing this shirt when the photo was taken, but a shirt with a logo for the state of Oregon. The original photo was published in September 2019 on Instagram by a user named sydkneed, a fitness enthusiast from Philadelphia.
The original photo shows Evans wearing a t-shirt saying “State of Oregon 1859.” Evans is originally from Boston, Massachusetts.
