The video has been online since 2017 (Twitter).

The Claim

A video depicts passengers aboard an Egyptian airliner protesting an air conditioning malfunction while flying at 38,000 feet.

Emerging story

Accounts and pages on social media have recently circulated a video clip allegedly documenting passengers on an Egyptian plane huffing and puffing as the AC malfunctions at 28,000 feet.

Misbarโ€™s Analysis

Misbar investigated the widely circulated claim and found it to be false. The video clip is old and has been making the rounds on social media since July 2017. At the time, an Egyptian plane's air conditioning system failed on its way from Kuwait to Egypt's Alexandria.

According to a source from Egypt's Ministry of Civil Aviation, the Aviation Minister decided to launch an urgent investigation as word of the incident spread on social media. According to the source, the Civil Aviation Ministry aircraft returned from Kuwait with nearly 100 passengers.
