Several media outlets and Twitter accounts have recently circulated alleged news that American actor Johnny Depp will attend the 43rd session of the Cairo International Film Festival as a guest of honor. Those sharing the news described the claim as a surprise like no other.
The claim also states that, following weeks and weeks of negotiations, Johnny Depp is expected to arrive in Cairo within the next few hours with a team of four people, who have confirmed a reservation at one of Cairo's most prestigious hotels, according to the claim.

Misbar’s Analysis
Misbar investigated the circulated news and found that it was fake. The Festival’s administration did not announce such news. Misbar’s also reached out to the Festiva’s executive director Mr. Andrew Mohsen, who denied the news and confirmed that while the Festival’s administration did want Johnny Depp to attend, the American actor will not be present at the Festival’s closing ceremony.
Mohsen earlier said to Al-Watan Newspaper that the Festival’s administration includes several international stars that it wants to have at the Festival. The American star Johnny Depp was one of the names suggested for this year’s Festival, but he could not attend.

The 43rd session of the Cairo International Film Festival has already started at the Egyptian Opera on Nov. 26.
