This Man in the Video Is Not an Israeli Settler
The man in the video is Murtada, an Indian-origin Muslim (Twitter).

The Claim

The Al Aqsa guards apprehended an illegal Israeli settler disguised as a blind Arab man who attempted to infiltrate the mosque.

Emerging story

A video of a settler disguised as a Muslim trying to enter the Al-Aqsa Mosque has been widely shared on social media and news websites. The guards on the doors suspected the bearded man wearing black sunglasses and asked him to read some verses from the Holy Quran, and he failed to respond.

Misbar’s Analysis

Misbar investigated the widely circulated claim and discovered it to be false. The Misbar team contacted the man in the video, who confirmed that his name is Murtada and that he is an Indian-origin Muslim who came to Palestine as part of a research partnership.

The guards of Al-Aqsa Mosque issued a press statement Friday afternoon, declaring that after investigating the incident, the young man in the video is a "foreign Muslim," not an Israeli settler, as they had assumed.

They also stated that they became more concerned when Israeli media reported the formation of groups of settlers attempting to disguise themselves in Arab clothing in order to infiltrate the Aqsa mosque.

However, it is important to note that non-Muslim visitors are not permitted to enter the Dome of the Rock.
