A photo purportedly of Medina taken from space has recently circulated on Facebook.
Misbar’s Analysis
Misbar discovered that the picture circulating shows Mecca, not Medina. In September 2017, Russian cosmonaut Sergey Ryazansky posted it on his Facebook account, among three other photos.
On the same day, NASA's Gateway to Astronaut Photography of Earth published the image and some technical information about its capture on its website on September 4, 2017.
