Many social media users have recently widely circulated a photo purporting that it is a Hubble Space Telescope image of a star forming.
Misbar’s Analysis
Misbar investigated the circulating claim and found it to be fake. The image is an artwork by Adam Ferriss.
Upon conducting a reverse image search on Google, Misbar’s team found that the image is shared by several art websites that attributed it to Adam Ferriss.
“500 Years Away” by Adam Ferris
According to the artist, the images in the series “500 Years Away” are “false topologies.” Relying on astrophotography images and a custom pixel sorting software, the pixels in the original images been rearranged to “fold and reshape the surface of space.”
“500 Years Away” contains several similar images.

Social media users have previously spread fake claims about another image from the “500 Years Away” series.
The false claims about the artwork urged the artist to mention it on his website.
