Misbar investigated the circulating claim and found it to be misleading. The robot dog is not Iranian.

M-81 Russian Robot Dog

The robot, known as the M-81 system, is manufactured by a Russian technology company called “Intellect Machine,” according to RIA Novosti. The robot dog, as its creators reveal, is intended to carry weapons and ammunition as well as use them during combat missions.

The robot can move quickly across the convention floor while carrying a rocket-propelled grenade launcher on its back. The robot can also kneel on the ground, which makes it more difficult to see as it waits to launch a rocket.

Reaction to the Robot Dog Announcement

Many social media users are terrified of the potential harm that such robots could cause due to lack of precision or efficiency.

Other social media users believe that the robot is deliberately dressed as a ninja to conceal the Go-1 robot made by the Chinese company Unitree.
