Misbar’s Analysis

Misbar has investigated the claim and found it to be false.

English player Jude Bellingham is not the first player to score and provide an assist at a World Cup before turning 20 since Lionel Messi in 2006.

Spanish footballer Pablo Martín Páez Gavira, known as Gavi, made the same achievement earlier.

Gavi Made World Cup History in Qatar

On November 23, 2022, Pablo Martín Páez Gavira broke the record against Costa Rica in the group stage of the World Cup Qatar 2022 when he scored a goal and provided an assist.

Is Gavi the Youngest Player to Score at a World Cup?

According to reports, Pablo Martín Páez Gavira is the third youngest player to score a goal in the World Cup’s history. He scored at the age of 18 years and 110 days, after the Brazilian Pele, who scored a goal at the age of 17 years and 239 days during the tournament in 1958.

The Mexican Manuel Rosas Sánchez also scored a goal at the age of 18 years and 90 days at the World Cup of 1930.

The Argentinian Lionel Messi first participated in the World Cup in 2006 and became the youngest player in Argentina's history. He made history in a match between Argentina and Serbia and scored his first goal at a World Cup at the age of 18 years and 358 days. However, Gavi made the same achievement in the group stage of the World Cup Qatar 2022.

Jude Bellingham’s Goal

England defeated Iran 6-2 in the opening game of Group B at the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022. Saka and Bellingham were England’s driving forces during the game, especially after Jude Bellingham scored his first international goal in the first half. This goal made him the youngest England scorer at a World Cup since Michael Owen in 1998. However, he is not the first scorer at a World Cup globally.
