Sky News Published the Leaders’ Full Exchange

A few seconds of the viral video that show the two leaders shaking hands and conversing were cut out.

Sky News published the original video on Twitter that features the leaders' full exchange, in which Biden shakes Sunak's hand and speaks to him for a little while before acknowledging other people on the tarmac.

The video's caption reads, "Watch the moment US President Joe Biden shakes hands with UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak on the runway of Belfast International Airport."

Many publishers of the video misleadingly retweeted the few seconds of the BBC's chopped video of the leaders' meeting, without knowing that it was not the full encounter between the leaders.

U.S. President and U.K. PM Hold Talks in Belfast

Biden and Sunak had previously met on a number of occasions, including in California in March.

Once the U.S. president arrived in Northern Ireland on a four-day trip to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the Good Friday Agreement, Joe Biden and Rishi Sunak had a talk.

The leaders talked about "the UK and US's extensive and deep relationship, evidenced by the collaborative UK and US investment in Northern Ireland's economy and people," according to Downing Street before the meeting.

The meeting's "focus" would be on the area, as well as "touching on the war in Ukraine," according to Amanda Sloat, the senior director for Europe at the U.S. National Security Council.
