Recently, social media users have been circulating an image claiming to depict an Israeli helicopter transporting dead and wounded Israeli soldiers during clashes with Palestinian resistance factions on Tuesday, May 14, in Rafah and Jabalia.

Misbar investigated the circulating claim and found it to be misleading, as the image is old and does not depict the transport of dead and wounded Israeli soldiers from the Gaza Strip following the recent clashes with Palestinian resistance factions during the ongoing Israeli war on Gaza.

Israeli media outlets published the photo on December 20, 2007, stating that it depicted the evacuation of an injured soldier from the Israeli army for treatment from the Gaza Strip at that time.

An Israeli soldier was seriously wounded on December 20, 2007, during an Israeli military operation in the Gaza Strip. He was airlifted for treatment at Soroka Israeli Hospital. Additionally, three soldiers were injured by rockets fired by Palestinian resistance factions targeting a house where they were taking cover, according to Israeli media reports.

Ongoing Clashes Between Gaza’s Resistance and the Israeli Army

The claim circulated as Palestinian resistance factions continue to confront Israeli forces advancing into Gaza. Al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of Hamas, announced carrying out numerous targeting operations with rockets and explosives in various areas, including Jabalia in the north and Israeli gatherings east of Rafah in the south, in addition to targeting operations within the Rafah border crossing. Al-Qassam reported casualties among the Israeli army during the targeting operations carried out on Tuesday, May 14.

Similarly, the Abu Ali Mustafa Brigades, the military wing of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine, announced targeting an Israeli military vehicle with an explosive device in the Jabalia refugee camp, along with conducting a sniper operation against an Israeli soldier in the vicinity of the Abu Zeitoun area in Jabalia camp, in response to the Israeli army's crimes against civilians in the Gaza Strip.

On the other hand, the Al-Quds Brigades, the military wing of the Islamic Jihad Movement, also announced carrying out a series of targeting operations in various axes of the Gaza Strip, in the south, north, and central regions.

15 Israeli Soldiers Injured in Gaza

On its part, the Israeli army announced the injury of 22 of its soldiers during the past 24 hours, with 15 soldiers wounded in the ongoing ground clashes in the Gaza Strip with Palestinian resistance factions.

The Israeli army stated that it has been working on evacuating and transferring the wounded for treatment. This raises the total number of casualties and injuries among the Israeli occupation army to 3,434 since October 7, 2023.
