The Claim

A video shows Gazans faking their death.

Emerging story

Amid the ongoing Israeli aggression on Gaza, social media users circulated a video clip, allegedly showing Palestinians faking their deaths and injuries.

Pro-Israel social media users have shared the video under the hashtags (Gazawood) and (Pallywood), which accuse the people of Gaza of staging their deaths.

One Twitter user posted the video with the caption, "My question about this suspected Pallywood movie is how are the wounded not crying in agony, and why are the people surrounding them not anxious? A common feature in the Palestinian propaganda movies is the inappropriate emotional response. Is this a cultural thing?"

Misbar’s Analysis

Misbar investigated the circulating footage and found the claim to be misleading.

The video does not show Gazans exploiting the war to gain global sympathy.

The Video Shows Three Gazan Martyrs After an Israeli Raid

Contrary to the circulating claim, the video shows three Gazan martyrs after being bombed by an Israeli reconnaissance aircraft in Rafah, in the southern Gaza Strip.

Palestinian photographer Moaz Abu Tahaa shot the video three days ago. He uploaded it to Instagram with the translated caption, “3 martyrs (children) and a number of injuries arrive at Kuwait Hospital as a result of reconnaissance aircraft bombing a group of citizens in the Yabna camp in central Rafah, south of the Gaza Strip.”

On the same date, the Kuwait Specialty Hospital uploaded a photo showing the same individuals seen in the circulating video.

The hospital announced that three Gazan individuals were killed as a result of an Israeli bombing. The translated caption reads, "Urgent / The arrival of 3 martyrs (children) and a number of injuries to Kuwait Specialized Hospital as a result of reconnaissance aircraft bombing a group of citizens near the Awadallah Junction in the Yabna camp in central Rafah."

Misbar’s team compared the three martyrs seen in the hospital’s published photo and found that these three children are the same individuals displayed in the circulating footage.

Moreover, the Safa media agency has also published four photos showing the same three killed children at the time.

According to the agency, three children were reported martyred and two others critically injured following an Israeli airstrike that targeted a group of citizens in the Yabna camp in Rafah.

The International Court of Justice has issued an order demanding Israel to "immediately" cease its military assault on the southern Gaza City of Rafah, labeling the humanitarian situation as "disastrous."

In response, Israel has denounced the World Court's order as "outrageous, morally repugnant, and disgusting."

The Israeli war has resulted in over 900,000 Palestinians being displaced within just two weeks, leaving them without adequate shelter, food, water, or medicine.

Israeli tanks and troops have advanced in the southeast of Rafah, inching closer to the densely populated western district of the city.
