Misbar Mourns the Loss of its Managing Editor Mohammed Al Shaikh Yousef
It is with our deepest sorrow that we must report that on September 17, 2020, Misbar’s team lost its managing editor.
Mohammed Al Shaikh Yousef passed away from a sudden heart attack at the age of 32 in Doha, Qatar.
He died in the middle of a brilliant career of achieving his dream for fact-checking the news, leaving behind a huge gap that no one can ever fill. Mohammed was an ambitious and inspiring young man who loved his work, his country, and literature and poetry.
He was one of the most important activists calling for an end to the Palestinian division in the Gaza Strip in 2011.
He left Gaza in 2014 following Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip. Although it was difficult for him to leave, he moved to Qatar, far from his family and his home country. Mohammed earned his BA at Al-Azhar University and his MA at Hamad Bin Khalifa University before establishing the content team at the social media platform "Buzz,” where he worked as a team manager for more than two years. Then he established the “Misbar" platform to investigate and verify fake news. This was Mohammed’s last professional achievement before he left us.
Misbar was a passion project he believed in deeply. He devoted days and nights to the project, making him one of the most important influencers in this field in the Arab world. Mohammad was a lovely, caring, kindhearted person who always had a smile on his face. He was a great manager, friend, and human being who was always there to help others in need. We lost someone dear to us, but his memory will remain immortal in our hearts.
We at Misbar pledge to continue his journey and immortalize his mark. We offer our deepest condolences and sympathy to Mohammed’s family and friends. We ask God to have mercy on him, and we wish strength for his loved ones. Mohammed, Misbar's editorial team and writers love you and will miss you so much.
You'll always be there in our minds and hearts. You’ll always be our one and favorite manager.
We'll take your lead and you’ll always be proud of the team and idea you established.
Love with deep sorrow,
Misbar's Editorial Team
