On 25th anniversary of the death of Princess Diana Spencer, the Princess of Wales, the debate about the causes of her death has recently been brought up again in public discussions. Princess Diana died in a car accident in the Alma Bridge tunnel in Paris during her visit to the Egyptian businessman Dodi Al Fayed, who passed away along with her.

Many people firmly believe that Princess Diana was targeted, and that certain people orchestrated the accident and planned it as an execution.

Poll: Less than Half of Britons Believe Princess Diana's Death was Accidental

Despite the results of at least two investigations, one conducted by the French police in 1997 and the other by the British metropolitan police responsible for greater London investigations in 2004, a 2013 survey published by the Research and Data Analysis (YouGov) shows that 38% of Britons believe that Princess Diana's death was accidental. 21% said they did not know the reasons.

This reinforces their belief in conspiracy theories that have been circulating since 1997. Princess Diana's story has been the subject of numerous conspiracy theories.

A new series produced by the British channel four examines conspiracy theories about the incident with the hope of refuting them. The series consists of four episodes that were uploaded on their website on August 21. For the first time, the series tells details of the 1997 and 2004 investigations into Diana's murder.

According to an article published by The Independent on Wednesday, " Princess Diana Conspiracy Theories: Eight Reasons People Believe the Crash in Paris Wasn’t All It Seems," the Daily Express and Egyptian businessman Mohamed Al Fayed, Dodi's father, helped spread conspiracy theories about the way and causes of death of the princess and his son.

The paper states that the British Met Police opened an investigation aimed at verifying each of the conspiracy theories because of how widely circulated and plausible they were. The police have already investigated 175 conspiracy theories centered around the night of the incident. While some theories were superficial, others were deep. The police found that none of them was true. These investigations cost substantial amounts of money and time to be complete.

What are the Most Important Conspiracy Theories About Princess Diana's Murder?

Press reports from all over the world have reviewed some of these conspiracy theories and the reasons behind their emergence and people’ belief that these theories reveal a hidden truth. This blog looks at the most famous conspiracy theories about Princess Diana’s death.

Princess Diana was Pregnant with Dodi Al Fayed’s Baby

Mohamed Al Fayed said that the British authorities killed Princess Diana because she was pregnant with his grandson. According to him, the royal family in Britain could not tolerate that the stepfather of the future British king would be an Egyptian Muslim.

However, there was no sign of Diana's pregnancy at the time of autopsy and blood sampling after her death, according to The Independent.

Al Fayed’s Driver Conspired With the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6)

Some conspiracy theories targeted Henry Ball, the security director of the Ritz, which was owned by the Al Fayed family. Ball was accused of getting paid for helping the secret intelligence service in killing Princess Diana and Dodi Al Fayed.

This theory was reinforced by the assertion of a former military intelligence officer, Richard Tomlinson, that Paul was an agent. Tomlinson had his hands on Paul's file previously with the MI6. "The man was found to have disappeared on the night of the incident for two or three hours before he chauffeured the princess," Tomlinson said.

USA Today indicated that it found about two hundred and fifty thousand dollars in his bank account while his annual salary did not exceed thirty-five thousand dollars.

Queen Elizabeth Did Not Like Princess Diana, Which Makes Her the First Suspect

Queen Elizabeth was accused of not loving Princess Diana and not returning to London immediately upon hearing the news of Diana's death to grieve alongside the British people. The queen stayed in Scotland for five days and came back later to give a speech about the death of the princess.

The Queen’s supporters said that she did so to protect her grandchildren, William and Harry, and to help them overcome the news of their mother's death.

Something Wrong With Diana’s Mercedes

Conspiracy theorists claim that the vehicle's path was closed, while others claim that the driver was driving at an unusual speed, or that the car was tampered, which led to the accident.

On the other hand, most reports are consistent with an official version asserting that the cause of the accident is that the driver was drunk, as well as other factors.
