For the first time in history, the tournament will be held in the Middle East between November and December.

In eight groups, 32 teams will compete at the World Cup in 2022.
The 12-day group stage will feature four matches per day.

There will be eight different venues in Qatar that will host the tournament's 64 games.
Khalifa International Stadium, Al Thumama Stadium, Ahmad Bin Ali Stadium, Lusail Stadium, Stadium 974, Education City Stadium, Al Janoub Stadium, and Al Bayt Stadium.
Qatar vs. Ecuador
Following the opening ceremony, Qatar and Ecuador will play the first match of the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
Due to a decision by the Bureau of the FIFA Council, the opening match and ceremony for this year's tournament will take place one day earlier than planned.
It will take place in Al Bayt Stadium.
