After hosting seven games in two weeks during the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, the first temporary stadium for the tournament will shortly be dismantled.
Stadium 974's whole steel frame can be used to create a venue of the same size or a number of smaller venues for significant sports events.
Social media pages and users alleged that the stadium will be moved to different countries, such as Uruguay, Tunisia, or Bangladesh.
Stadium 974: The First Temporary Stadium
The stadium, originally known as Ras Abu Aboud Stadium, has a 44,089-seat capacity.
The stadium was named because it was constructed from 974 shipping containers, and it is also the country's international dial code.
Stadium 974 made history because it was built entirely out of shipping containers and modular steel, according to the Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy.
"It is the first fully demountable covered football stadium showing Qatar’s commitment to cost-effective sustainability and daring design."
In order to accommodate the media and fans, the stadium contains the newest technologies as well as fixed platforms for broadcast and photo cameras.
Claims Arose Regarding 974 Stadium Next Destination
Stadium 974 is completely demountable and offers natural ventilation.
Only seven World Cup matches were played in the first temporary stadium, with the final one taking place on December 5 when Brazil defeated South Korea in the round of 16.
Social media users and pages alleged the stadium's next destination will be one of the following countries: Uruguay, Tunisia, or Bangladesh.
What Will be the Next Destination of the Stadium?
According to the organizers, the fate of the Stadium 974 modular components is still unknown.
170,000 seats from other stadiums will be dismantled and donated to international football projects in developing countries.
Stadium 974's potential future uses or locations don't appear to have been decided.
While the organizers "highlighted the dismountable nature of the temporary stadium, we could identify no specific plans showing where the stadium will be moved, if at all," according to Carbon Market Watch.
Events Held at 974 Stadium
On December 16, the 974 Stadium's football field was turned into a runway for the Qatar Fashion United by CR Runway, exhibiting 21 Qatar-based brands and more than 150 designers from 50 different countries and six continents.
Prior to the World Cup final, the event drew more than 20,000 people, including former football players David Beckham and Ronaldo Nazario.
Fashion enthusiasts and football lovers were impressed by a star-studded roster of performances by prominent performers, including DJ Jay Psar, Soo Joo Park, Ozuna, The Jerseys with Zakes Bantwini, Nancy Ajram, Kadir Al Sahir, DJ Snake, Cheb Khaleb, and Post Malone.
