The official statement described as an “erratum” mentioned that the “mistake” related to the player’s privacy appeared on the website Paris Match on December 14, 2022, confirming that Saïss was in a relationship with Ms. Rachid.
The statement reads: “On December 14, 2022, a mistake about the private life of Romain Saïss appeared on the website of Paris Match. This false information affirms that the captain of the Moroccan soccer team was in a relationship with Salma Rachid.”
“We apologize to Romain Saïss for this false information, as well as to his wife and Salma Rachid and her relatives,” the statement continued.

The claim circulated along with a picture of the Moroccan player and Ms. Rachid, taken in Dubai and posted online on April 17, 2022.
