Cristiano Ronaldo has signed a two-and-a-half-year contract with Saudi Al-Nassr FC, making him one of the highest-paid footballers in history.

Since the Portuguese player was linked to the Saudi team, misinformation proliferated.

According to circulating claims, Ronaldo has agreed to join Newcastle United on loan if they qualify for the Champions League next season.

Cristiano Ronaldo Signs for Al-Nassr FC

In a deal estimated to be worth more than 200 million euros, Cristiano Ronaldo signed his contract with Al-Nassr FC.

Ronaldo will earn $75 million a year after mutually terminating his contract with Manchester United due to a series of disciplinary issues at the club.

In addition to the huge signing-on fee, shy of 100 million euros, the contract reportedly includes financial incentives through advertising, making the Portuguese athlete one of the highest-paid players in the world.

On Tuesday, Cristiano Ronaldo was officially introduced to fans at his new Saudi Arabian club, Al Nassr.

The player received a warm welcome from Saudi fans at the capital Riyadh's Mrsool Park stadium.

"I’m a unique player. It’s good to come here, I broke all the records there [in Europe] and I want to break a few records here," Ronaldo said.

"I’m coming here to win, to play, to enjoy, to be part of the success of the country and culture of the country," he added.

Newcastle Head Coach Debunked the Claim

Newcastle's head coach Eddie Howe refuted the claim ahead of Newcastle's match with Arsenal in the Premier League.

"We wish Cristiano all the best in his venture, but from our point of view there's no truth in that," Howe said.

Furthermore, during a press conference on Wednesday, Ronaldo hinted that he would not join another European club before retiring from football.

"In Europe, my work is done. I won everything and played for the most important clubs in Europe," Ronaldo stated.

Cristiano Ronaldo also said: "I had many offers in Europe, many in Brazil, Australia, the US, even in Portugal."

"Many clubs tried to sign me but I gave my word to this club," he added.

Misbar also found that neither Ronaldo nor the club shared such news.
