The 2023 Plane Crash in Nepal

At least 68 people were killed after a plane carrying 72 people crashed near an airport in Nepal, according to officials.

On January 15, the Yeti Airlines flight heading from Kathmandu to the well-known tourist resort of Pokhara crashed upon landing and caught fire.

According to reports, a number of critically injured survivors were sent to hospitals.

Several hundred soldiers from Nepal took part in the operation.

According to an army spokesman, the plane "has broken into pieces... We expect to recover more bodies."

According to a video posted on Twitter, the plane flew over a populated area.

Two Misleading Videos of a Plane Crash Resurface

A viral video showing a plane crashing in the street during its ascent was purported to show the recent plane crash in Nepal.

The video was shared on Twitter and has received over 850,000 views.

After conducting a thorough reverse image search, Misbar’s team found the claim to be misleading.

The video does not show the recent Nepal plane crash.

On May 1, 2013, the Guardian published the same video showing a plane crash in Afghanistan.

The footage, according to the Guardian, purports to feature the moment when a U.S. Boeing 747 cargo plane crashed as it ascended from Bagram airbase, Afghanistan.

All seven of the seven American crew members were reported dead in the collision.

Another video posted on Twitter was alleged to show the recent plane crash in Nepal. The video has around a million views.

The video shows a plane going down after catching fire.

Misbar’s reverse image search revealed that the footage dates back to August 17, 2021.

India Today’s YouTube channel published the video under the title, "Ilyushin Il-112V: Russian military transport aircraft crashes in outside Moscow| NewsMo."

The photo’s caption reads, "Plane crash site on Browning Knob North Carolina."

After conducting a keyword search, Misbar’s team found many articles that published photos of the same plane.

The Bureau of Aircraft Accidents Archives published photos showing the same plane with details proving it to be a 40-year-old crashed plane.

According to the Bureau, the plane crashed on November 24, 1983.

The Cessna 414 Chancellor was a private plane, and two people were found dead in it following the crash in a mountainous area in Waynesville, North Carolina.

There are many similarities between the circulating photo and the Alamy and Bureau published photos of the plane.

The color of the plane and the three colored lines on the plane body are the same in the photos.

The five back and front windows, along with the door, are the same in all three photos. The wires in the plane's front can also be seen in the photos. Moreover, the place where the plane crashed can be seen in all three photos.

Misbar found the photo featured in a published article about the incident on April 14, 2019.
