Recently, the Israeli media personality, Edy Cohen, published a claim on his X account, alleging that the airstrike that targeted the Baptist hospital in the central of the Gaza Strip was caused by a rocket from Hamas that fell short and struck the site. Moreover, Cohen claimed that the posted video is conclusive evidence of his speech.

Misbar investigated the circulating video and found that the video clip was taken from “Around the World” channel on Telegram platform, which was posted at 08:36 p.m. on Tuesday, accompanied by the caption: “Moments of a rocket falling on Baptist hospital in Gaza City.” Subsequently, Edy Cohen used the same video with a different caption, claiming that the rocket belonged to Hamas.

The “Around the World” channel followed the video with another clip, showing the fallen rocket, as documented by a Palestinian from Gaza City. The videographer was heard saying at that moment “Oh Allah” in front of the hospital bombing scene. The channel added a caption, “Moments of a rocket falling on the Baptist hospital in Gaza.”

Additionally, it is clear from the second video that the rocket came from right to left, and a sound was heard as it pierced the air before hitting the hospital building.

It should be noted that there is no logical link between the anchor’s speech in the video and the published scenes. She mentioned that they would soon interview one of the survivors to recall what happened last Saturday in the settlement where she lives, while the video captures the moment of a rocket falling, as claimed by “Around the World” channel that originally posted it on Telegram, which Cohen quoted.

According to the Gaza Health Ministry, the hospital had been providing shelter to thousands of internally displaced persons who were forcibly evicted from their homes due to Israel's ongoing bombing since October 7, 2023.

A Gaza Civil Defense spokesman told Al-Jazeera that the number of casualties resulting from the bombing targeting the Al-Ahli Al-Arabi Hospital exceeded 500, describing the attack as a massacre.

The Palestinian Ministry of Health had announced in its latest tally the death of nearly 3,000 Palestinians in Gaza and the injury of more than 12,500 others. Meanwhile, the number of casualties in the West Bank reached 61, with another 1,250 injured.
