The spokesperson for the Israeli army's Arab media, Avichay Adraee, claimed in a video posted on his personal account on the X platform that the news circulating in the media about targeting Al-Shifa Hospital is false. He asserted that the clashes took place with Hamas fighters in the vicinity of the hospital, and there is no siege or targeting of the hospital. He claimed that anyone who wants to leave can do so.
The spokesperson for the Israeli army, Daniel Hagar, also stated that Israel did not target Al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza City. He claimed that what is happening is the targeting of Hamas, which chose to fight near the hospital. He added that there is always a safe passage south of Al-Shifa Hospital.
Israel Targets Those Attempting to Leave Al-Shifa Hospital
“Médecins Sans Frontières” (Doctors Without Borders) published an audio recording of one of its surgeons at Al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza. Surgeon Mohammad Obeid confirmed that families were shot at while leaving the hospital. He also confirmed that four patients were shot by Israeli snipers, and two newborns died as the incubators stopped working due to power outages.
Another patient in the intensive care unit died due to the failure of artificial respiratory devices. The entire hospital is facing extreme danger due to the catastrophic situation, with no access to food, water, or electricity.
Martin Griffiths, the Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs at the United Nations, stated in a tweet on X: "Reports are horrifying of attacks. There can be no justification for any acts of war in healthcare facilities, leaving them without electricity, food, or water, with firing on patients and civilians attempting to escape.”
On November 10, Human Rights Watch stated on X that there were repeated serious reports of the shelling of al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza, resulting in casualties. Satellite images taken on November 7, reviewed by the organization, showed Israeli forces within two kilometers from all sides of the hospital.
The organization reported that an Israeli airstrike hit an ambulance on November 3 just meters from the hospital's main entrance. Verified images and videos showed at least 21 people killed or injured, including five children. Israel claimed that the vehicle was transporting Palestinian fighters but provided no evidence to support that claim.
The statement from the government media office in Gaza said that the occupation forces "targeted the Al-Quds building in the Al-Shifa medical complex," indicating that the Israeli army targeted the top floor of the building, which houses hundreds of wounded and dead.
Since the early days of the aggression, the Israeli forces have targeted buildings near Al-Shifa Medical Hospital, such as the Badrasawi building, which is 80 meters away from Al-Shifa Hospital, as indicated by Google Maps. The previous shelling resulted in shattered glass in some rooms and the collapse of the ceiling in one of the departments, according to the Palestinian Ministry of Health.
