Israeli social media accounts are circulating a video clip of an interview with an Israeli army officer. In the interview, he claimed that he saw “horrific scenes” including “a line of murdered Israeli children hanging on a clothesline,” on October 7, after the attack by Al-Qassam brigades, the military arm of Hamas movement on Israeli settlements at the time.
The Israeli officer said in the interview, “In addition to killing Jews, they killed to torture them horrifically; they mutilated bodies of dead women after raping them, children were hanging in one line on a clothesline." He added, “It was a tough scene, it shocked me, you do not understand what you are looking at, is this an image or reality? It is tough to understand this horrific thing you see, then you see a more hideous reality.”
The Reporter Deleted the Interview Due To Unverified Information
Misbar investigated the story and it turned out that the Israeli reporter, Ishai Cohen, conducted the interview with the Israeli officer and was the first one to publish it before deleting it.
Ishai Cohen posted on his official account on X, “I posted part of an interview I had with an Israeli officer. In the comment section, there were claims that the story was not accurate. I confirmed that I was offered to interview the Israeli officer spokesperson whose representative was also present in the picture,” he said, “I deleted it due to the slightest fear that the officer’s story might not be accurate which may sabotage the information."
The Israeli Army Offered to Interview the Reporter
After Ishai deleted the interview, an Israeli activist said on her X platform account, “Ishai Cohen published a horrific interview with an officer describing a shocking situation that does not match the data on the ground. In the end, Ishai deleted the video, but in the meantime, another famous account -meaning the Mossad Commentary- promoted the claims of the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs (by uploading the video again, and within 8 hours it was shown to hundreds of thousands of people." She wondered, “How could you publish this video on the internet without being 100% sure?”
Ishai shared the activist’s post and commented, “As I confirmed yesterday, the Israeli army spokesperson asked me to do the interview, and I did not know the officer before. The Ministry of Communication representative was present during the interview and approved to broadcast, and in other footage, there were comments they asked me to edit or avoid.”
He added, “After I posted the trailer, there were complaints, that is why I immediately deleted it. However, the IDF spokesperson refrained from claiming that it was a false story. Besides, the person I interviewed still insisted that it was true, and there was another witness too.”
Another account said in the comments in response to Ishai’s post that he could have easily verified this information before publishing the interview, which is considered a disgraceful because this conversation comes as part of the propaganda being mobilized to support the Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu.
Ishai responded saying, “I admit that I did not think it was necessary to verify the story by the Israeli lieutenant colonel in the Gaza division, along with the Ministry of Communication representative.” He noted, “Why would an Israeli officer make such a horrific story up? I made a mistake.”
Who Was This Person Who Appeared With Ishai Cohen in the Interview?
With further investigation, Misbar found out that the person who appeared with Ishai Cohen in the interview was Yaron Buskila, a retired Israeli lieutenant colonel, who is still serving in reserve service, and served in leadership positions in the Israeli army, starting from a fighter to deputy brigade commander.
Presently, Yaron serves as Vice President of the IDSF Movement, a Zionist organization made up of thousands of officers and activists from all branches of the Israeli security forces, dedicated to defending Israel's national security. He previously worked as a military commentator on Israel's Channel 14 and as an advisor to the Israel-African Chamber of Commerce.
Yaron Was in the Israeli Army During the Current War on Gaza
By looking into Yaron Buskila’s account on the X platform, it was found that he was with the Israeli army during the recent war on the Gaza Strip, working as an officer in the Gaza Division, and posting videos and photos of himself in military uniform.
Yaron conducted interviews with Israeli channels during the recent war on Gaza, to comment on the events and the Israeli army’s preparations to fight.
After publishing Ishai Cohen's Interview with Yaron Buskila, many Israeli accounts confirmed that Yaron’s story of “Children hung on clotheslines in a queue” did not happen, they also confirmed that he was never in the site after Al-Qassam’s attack, and there is no evidence to support this event. Some have even described it to be a “Dramatic Silly Lie.”
In response to a post questioning the story, Yaron repeatedly confirmed that he indeed saw the children hanging on October 7.
There Is No Evidence That the Resistance Killed and Hung Children on a Rope
Misbar investigated Yaron’s allegations about the resistance killing children and hanging them on a clothesline during the attack on October 7 and could not find any evidence in the Israeli reports to approve these allegations.
These allegations come in the context of the misleading Israeli propaganda that has continued since the beginning of the recent war on the Gaza Strip. A similar story previously circulated about a reporter from the Israeli i24 channel who promoted allegations about “the beheading of Israeli children and the sexual assault of hostages by Hamas” after the movement’s attack on the outskirts of the Gaza Strip during Operation Al-Aqsa Flood. Moreover, many media outlets published the story before retracting it because it was not verified. Misbar published a report at the time refuting these allegations.
