On Thursday, December 14, Avichay Adraee, the head of the Arab media branch of the the Israeli army spokesperson’s Unit, along with other Israeli accounts, published scenes claiming to depict "the surrender of more than 70 Hamas operatives, along with their weapons, to the Israeli army and the Shin Bet forces in the vicinity of Kamal Adwan Hospital in Gaza."
"The IDF, in collaboration with the General Security Service, conducted operations in the vicinity of Kamal Adwan Hospital, discovering a facility used by Hamas operatives containing combat equipment,” Adraee stated. “Throughout the operation near the hospital, the fighters engaged and neutralized several saboteurs in various clashes."
The Israeli Occupation Has Arrested Civilians From Kamal Adwan Hospital
Misbar investigated Adraee’s claim and found it to be misleading. Upon examining the footage, multiple indications suggested that the individuals featured in the scenes were civilians and doctors present at Kamal Adwan Hospital in Beit Lahia, northern Gaza Strip, during the ongoing Israeli ground incursion. Contrary to the claim, they were not members of the resistance who turned themselves in.
Stripping Civilians and Filming Them With Weapons
In a recurring pattern, the Israeli occupation army staged and manipulated various scenes after compelling civilians to undress and stand naked under the threat of weapons. On December 9, Israeli accounts shared footage claiming to depict the arrest of militants in Gaza. However, Misbar's investigation revealed that the scenes actually depicted the arrest of civilians, not armed militants.
The recently viral scenes also depicted civilians appearing naked while holding weapons, raising questions about the rationale behind forcing individuals to undress while they remain still armed. Ideally, disarming should precede the act of undressing.
Staging and Editing the Scenes After Arranging Tools on the Ground
The four young men holding weapons were seen positioning weapons, tools, and clothes on the ground in another video posted by Avichay Adraee, along with the previously released images. Additionally, they stood beside Israeli soldiers without weapons in their hands (as the weapons were on the ground), presumably to agree on the staged pose in which they would be filmed while holding weapons, appearing as if they were surrendering.
General Security Forces' Items Emerge in the Scenes
Upon thorough analysis of the scenes, it was discovered that several items, claimed by the occupation to be owned by the resistance such as handcuffs and batons, were found on the ground. However, these items actually belonged to the General Security Forces and not to the resistance.
Furthermore, the recent clashes in Gaza between Israeli forces and resistance fighters involve the use of heavy weapons.
Social media accounts commented on one of the photos, asserting that it depicted the trainee doctor Nasr Emad Al-Madhoun and another nurse working at Kamal Adwan Hospital. Israel has linked these civilian detainees to the resistance. However, Misbar could not independently verify whether the photo indeed portrayed the trainee doctor and the other nurse. The investigation continues to establish the identities of the individuals featured in the image.
Occupation Forces Raid Kamal Adwan Hospital in Gaza
The Israeli allegations have emerged following the raid of Kamal Adwan Hospital in northern Gaza by occupation forces, subsequent to its siege and bombing for several days.
On Thursday, the Ministry of Health in the Gaza Strip reported the Israeli army issued a 4-hour notice to evacuate Kamal Adwan Hospital, claiming that "Hamas is using it for military purposes.
Ashraf Al-Qudra, the spokesperson for the Palestinian Ministry of Health in Gaza, warned that 12 children were at risk of death due to the Israeli forces' raid on Kamal Adwan Hospital, announcing the "martyrdom of two wounded individuals out of 10 in the emergency department."
“The occupation forces are forcing medical staff to gather children in the intensive care unit and the wounded only on the second floor, depriving them of water, food, electricity, and movement between departments,” Al-Qudra added in a statement released by the Ministry via Telegram.
He further explained that Israeli forces evacuated 2,500 internally displaced individuals from the hospital to shelters while still detaining some of the medical personnel.
Israeli Army Arrests Civilians, Falsely Claiming They Are Fighters
These scenes are the latest in a series of allegations promoted by the Israeli army in the past few days. These claims emerged following the arrest of civilians in the Gaza Strip, with subsequent assertions that they were affiliated with Hamas.
Misbar had previously debunked these allegations after the occupation forces filmed and edited numerous scenes, forcing civilians to undress and stand naked under the threat of weapons in front of Khalifa School in Beit Lahia, where many Gazans sought refuge there after their homes were bombed during the ongoing Gaza war.
Israeli accounts also shared a series of images depicting naked and blindfolded individuals, purporting to showcase the arrest of over 100 Hamas members who allegedly emerged from the tunnels in northern Gaza on December 7.
However, these images actually attest to the Israeli army's arrest of numerous Palestinians during the ground invasion in northern Gaza, including "the detention of journalists, doctors, academics, and elderly individuals from displacement centers in northern Gaza after being stripped."
