Official Israeli and Arab accounts continue to propagate the Israeli narrative, accusing Hamas of stealing aid meant for Gaza residents and preventing its distribution to those in need after it has entered the Gaza Strip.
Adraee Accuses Hamas of Attacking the Displaced
Recently, the spokesperson for the Israeli occupation army, Avichay Adraee, posted a video on his official account on the X platform and commented on it, saying: “Attacking civilians waiting for aid with batons, and blocking the path of people trying to move from the combat zone to the west. Documenting the lives of residents under Hamas control in Khan Yunis.”
However, it appears that the video posted by Adraee was captured in late December of last year, not recently. Furthermore, despite Adraee's claim, there is no indication suggesting that individuals can freely navigate the area and deliver relief to Al-Amal Hospital; rather, ongoing fights, bombings, and military operations in the hospital’s vicinity make such movement challenging, irrespective of any claims about Hamas restricting it.
Additionally, the video does not show any direct attacks or beatings; instead, batons are used to clear the area for trucks to access the square. These trucks are delivering medical supplies to Al-Amal Hospital, affiliated with the Palestinian Red Crescent, located in the center of Khan Yunis. Ahmed Hassouna, a 27-year-old Gaza City refugee who was present at the hospital when security officers used batons to disperse the crowd, confirmed this to Misbar.
As seen at 00:13 in the video, a security officer is shown with his weapon on his back, standing behind a truck being unloaded with aid. This suggests that the security forces are overseeing the delivery, unloading and distribution of the aid. At that moment, another security officer uses a baton to disperse individuals clinging to the truck.
The video also includes an additional scene from a residential area far from the hospital, starting at 00:37, showing armed members of the security forces. This scene does not occur during the security monitoring of the aid delivery and unloading process.
Ahmed Hassouna informed Misbar that the displaced people were evacuated from the hospital on Monday, February 5, due to direct targeting by Israeli forces.
Israel Obstructs the Entry of Aid Into Gaza, Not Hamas
While the Israeli occupation and its supporting accounts persist in accusing Hamas of blocking the entry of aid, reports from international organizations and officials confirm that it is the Israeli occupation army and its settlers who hinder its delivery. This was evidenced by Israeli settlers’ actions on January 25 and 26.
In the context of anti-Hamas propaganda regarding aid, an Israeli supportive account commented on a statement by Antonio Guterres, the Secretary-General of the United Nations, who said, “Nothing can justify the collective punishment of the Palestinian people.” The account added, “There is also no justification for Hamas to withhold aid from them.” Additionally, the account published a video showing a security officer atop an Emirati aid truck for protection, not to prevent aid distribution as claimed in the account’s comment on Guterres’ statement.
Gaza Security Forces Streamline Aid Truck Entry Into the Gaza Strip
In contrast, intervention and law enforcement forces have been actively securing, receiving, and distributing aid in recent weeks, particularly in the southern regions, notably in Rafah city. Witness Samir Awadallah shared with Misbar that in October and November, “trucks would arrive, and desperate crowds would sometimes swarm them for aid. However, for over a month now, security personnel have been collaborating with most incoming trucks at storage centers, where additional security ensures smooth entry and delivery of food assistance.”
Awadallah explained to Misbar, “The policeman wields the baton, and sometimes there is a rush because of the large number of citizens and the urgent need, which leads people to not form orderly lines. This can cause some tension with the police forces tasked with maintaining order.”
On February 5, the Rafah Police Facebook page also reported that intervention and law enforcement forces are securing UNRWA warehouses to facilitate the distribution of medical and humanitarian aid inside the displaced persons' shelter center, in order to support and assist them in their humanitarian efforts.
Misleading Video Claiming To Show People Storming Hamas Centers Containing Aid
One of the misleading claims involves a video that circulated in October 2023, purportedly showing citizens storming a Hamas warehouse in Deir al-Balah to obtain food. However, the video actually shows the storming of UNRWA centers, not Hamas facilities. This incident occurred as a result of the hunger that UNRWA had warned about following the event and the worsening humanitarian conditions.
Additionally, UNRWA said on December 15 that the ongoing attempts by people to obtain aid in an unorganized manner are a result of hunger and desperation.
