Evidence Indicates That Israel Intended To Kill The Largest Number Of Civilians In The Mawasi Massacre

The IOF has committed another horrific massacre in the overcrowded Mawasi region, which is supposed to be a “safe zone.”

After midnight on September 10, Israeli warplanes attacked an overcrowded camp, where displaced people were sheltering following the IOF’s orders to evacuate to a selected “safe zone.” Three powerful bombs were dropped on the displaced people while they were sleeping.

Horrific sounds were heard in the city of Khan Younis. Three several-meter-deep holes were created. Twenty tents were completely buried. Several whole families were not found.

40 people were killed. 60 were wounded. 22 people were melted and disappeared. The death toll is still increasing as reports of missing persons continue.

The attack was described as one of the most deadly and the most heinous.

Israel Foreign Ministry admitted that the attack was in a designated “Humanitarian Area;” however, they justified the attack by claiming that there were significant Hamas militants embedded in the area.

They added that the Israeli army took “numerous steps” before the attack “to mitigate the risk of harming civilians,” including the use of precise munitions.

Misbar's investigation shows the bombs Israel used in the massacre as well as the measures taken prior to the attack, which proves that Israel intended to kill as many people as possible.

The Use Of Three Powerful MK-84s Proves Israel's Intentions of Annihilation

Initial investigations by experts on the site of the massacre confirmed that the bombs used were MK-84, the largest in the Pentagon’s Mark 80 series of bombs, and the same bomb that was dropped on the Baptist Hospital killing more than 500 Palestinians.

In the aftermath of the attack, three large holes were dug in the ground.

When using the height of the man standing on the top of the hole to measure its depth, it could be noted that the hole may be 10 meters deep in the ground.

10-meter carters are a fingerprint of 2,000-pound bombs, just like the American-made MK-84 bomb that Israel has a large arsenal of.

500 of such craters were found in Gaza several months ago. CCN’s investigation concluded that they were caused by the 2,000-pound MK-84.

The MK-84 is a 2,000-pound bomb used where maximum blast and explosive effects are desired. About 45 percent of the MK-84’s weight is composed of a high explosive mixture.

Claiming that precise bombs were used in the attack means that the bombs were supplied with Joint Direct Attack Munition (JDAM) to guide the bombs and improve their accuracy.

In other words, Israel, without prior notice or prior orders of evacuation, deliberately dropped precise 6,000-pound bombs on an overcrowded camp of civilians who followed the orders of evacuation.

The use of this type of heavy bomb proves that Israel intends to kill the largest number of civilian Palestinians possible.

In fact, Israel has been using the 2,000-pound MK-84s since the beginning of the war. However, this is the first time they have been used on tents sheltering civilians in the camps.

In an article on the massacre, the Euro-Med Monitor confirmed that Israel’s intention to kill the greatest number of Palestinian civilians possible is evident in its use of multiple MK-84s.

During the Vietnam War, the American Air Force reserved MK-84s for destroying large buildings or infrastructure like bridges, due to their destructive power. This time, the U.S. is supplying them to Israel to be used against thin tents.

The Euro-Med Monitor stressed that the United States is complicit in this individual crime as well as in Israel’s genocide which has been going on for the past 11 months.

Proper Measures to Mitigate The Death Toll Were Not Taken

Israel also claimed that the attack was aimed at 3 Hamas militants embedded in the camp. These claims were used several times to justify other horrible massacres, such as Israel’s claims in the Tabeen massacre just a month before the Mawasi massacre, which was proven to be false.

After the heinous attack, Hamas stated that there was no military presence in the area or any area of civilians in the Gaza Strip, adding that Israel’s claims were created just to justify its horrible massacres.

Hamas also did not announce the killing of any member of them in the Mawasi attack.

Whether the Israeli narrative was true or not, using three MK-84s to kill three militants cannot be justified.

Naturally, Israel could have used three precise tiny bombs to target them, not the heavy explosive bombs it used.

Just as Israel observed the three alleged militants in the Mawasi through its drones, it could have used its surveillance to attack the alleged three militants the moment they got out of the Mawasi region.

Colonel Hatem Karim Al-Falahi, a military & strategic expert says that the deliberate use of these bombs means that Israel's target is to displace the Palestinians in the Strip and to kill as many Palestinian civilians as possible, in addition to the other methods of killing as the ban on medical drugs, and Israel's starvation policy.

It should also be noted that, taken the destruction power of the MK-84 into consideration, dropping just one bomb on the place where the three alleged militants gathered could have been enough to kill them.

According to American troops’ guides, anyone within 600 feet of a 2000-pound bomb’s impact has a 10 percent chance of being incapacitated or killed. This means that if Israel's claims to mitigate the risk of harming civilians were true, it could have dropped just one bomb several feet away from the three militants to kill them and not directly in the camp to mitigate hurting civilians.

However, all the pieces of evidence prove that Israel deliberately killed the displaced civilians in the camp.

Israeli Massacres Continue In The Mawasi “Safe Zone”

The Mawasi region, a desert land, was designated as a “safe zone” by Israel in December 2023.

Displaced civilians were pushed into it, seeking refuge from the endless bombs Israel drops on the Strip. However, no safe place in Gaza - Israel committed several horrific massacres in the region.

In January, it was the first Israeli storm into the Mawasi region. Al-Khair Hospital was stormed after hours of putting it under siege in the Mawasi region, killing 50.

The attacks continued in the region but the biggest attack that followed the storming of January was an Israeli strike in the Mawasi of Rafah, killing 21.

On June 21, Israel attacked the tents of the displaced in the Mawasi killing 25 civilians and wounding 50.

The largest attack of the Mawasi was on July 13, when the Israeli army attacked the “safe zone” targeting tents housing the displaced and a water distillation unit, claiming that its attacks were aimed at two Hamas officials: the group’s military chief, Mohammed Deif, and senior Hamas commander, Rafi Salama. At least 90 were killed in the massacre and 300 were wounded, while Hamas confirmed several times that its heads were not killed in the massacre.
