On Sunday, Israeli military spokesperson Avichay Adraee posted a photo on his X account, accompanied by urgent news, claiming that Palestinian civilians were safely evacuating from the Jabalia region.
He claimed that the Israeli army is consistently providing designated routes to ensure residents can safely leave the area.
No Safe Zones in Jabalia, Contrary to Israel’s Claims
Misbar has investigated the military spokesperson’s post and revealed that Avichay Adraee is misleading the public to cover up the massacres committed by Israeli forces against the residents of Jabalia Camp and the town of Jabalia in northern Gaza. His claims that "the Israeli army is consistently providing designated routes to ensure residents can safely leave the area" have been proven false.
In reality, Israeli military forces have made significant advances in various areas of Jabalia Camp, Beit Lahiya City, and the Beit Lahiya Project, imposing a complete siege on these regions for several days. This siege has been enforced through ground military vehicles, as well as airstrikes, artillery bombardments, and drone attacks, resulting in numerous civilian casualties and injuries.
Journalists, media outlets, and social media accounts have documented harrowing scenes of Israeli forces attacking and killing civilians, either in their homes or during their attempts to evacuate. Cameras have captured footage of Israeli troops compelling displaced residents from Jabalia to evacuate toward Gaza City. The displaced have also spoken of the hardships they face and their ongoing suffering during the evacuation.
Targeting Displaced Civilians and Terrifying Moments During Evacuations From Northern Gaza
Palestinian journalist Anas Al-Sharif, reporting from the Jabalia area, shared a video on Sunday depicting an Israeli airstrike that targeted a horse-drawn cart in the Nazla area of Jabalia. The strike killed five people and injured several others.
It was revealed that the cart was transporting displaced individuals when it was targeted, despite Israeli claims that the evacuation was "safe."
Palestinian journalist Islam Bader also shared an interview with a displaced woman who had been sheltering in schools near the Indonesian Hospital in Jabalia. She recounted the physical and psychological abuse they endured and explained how they were forcibly displaced by the Israeli army.
The woman stated that the army had taken young men over the age of 16, leaving their families unaware of their fate. She also mentioned that women were eventually allowed to evacuate over long distances, but only after enduring humiliation and mockery from the soldiers.
In another interview aired on Al Jazeera, a different woman recounted how Israeli soldiers "attacked us with tanks, took the young men, and forced us out under heavy gunfire and death threats, continuing to shoot at us."
Many displaced individuals reported that Israeli forces fired upon them, stressing that the evacuation route was perilous, flanked by Israeli tanks and ongoing bombardment. Additionally, they faced starvation, as the forces prohibited them from taking any food with them.
On Saturday, the Israeli army released footage showing occupation tanks and soldiers abusing civilians, arresting hundreds, and forcing women to flee their homes in Jabalia.
Alaraby TV reported on artillery bombardments that targeted homes in the Tel al-Zaatar area of Jabalia Camp in northern Gaza. Meanwhile, Israeli forces set fire to the Hamad School, which had been sheltering displaced civilians near the Indonesian Hospital.
The Israeli Army Launches Campaign of Extermination in Northern Gaza
For weeks, the Israeli army has been carrying out intense air and artillery bombardments on various areas, including Jabalia Camp, Beit Lahiya, Safatwi, Tel Al-Zaatar, Sheikh Zayed, and Tal Qleibo in northern Gaza. These attacks have resulted in the deaths of hundreds, including women and children.
This escalation coincides with an ongoing campaign by the Israeli army in northern Gaza, characterized by the bombing and destruction of homes, the burning of entire residential neighborhoods, and the targeting of shelters. Additionally, they have hindered the entry of food and water into the region, leading to hundreds of deaths and injuries. The near-total incapacitation of ambulance and civil defense teams—due to being targeted and prevented from carrying out their duties—has further exacerbated the dire situation.
On October 6, the Israeli army announced the beginning of its invasion of northern Gaza under the pretext of “preventing Hamas from regaining strength in the area.” Meanwhile, Palestinians have documented the ongoing forced displacement of residents.
Israeli Occupation Targets Displacement Shelters in Jabalia
Since the beginning of the current Israeli aggression in Gaza, displaced Palestinians have been forced to seek refuge in schools or the homes of relatives and friends that have not yet been bombed. Many are also sheltering in tents on the streets, in schools, and in other makeshift locations, enduring severe humanitarian conditions with inadequate access to food and water, all while facing the spread of diseases.
However, even these refuge locations have not been spared from violence. In recent days, Israeli forces have carried out new massacres in Jabalia Camp. On Saturday, Gaza's civil defense reported that "the Israeli military operation has resulted in the deaths of more than 400 people over the past two weeks in northern Gaza."
Furthermore, on Sunday, Israeli shelling killed and injured several Palestinians, including those seeking refuge in a school and a medical clinic. The bombardment of multiple homes in Jabalia Camp also led to dozens of casualties.
United Nations: Palestinians in Northern Gaza Suffer Indescribable Horrors
On Saturday, Joyce Msuya, the acting under-secretary-general for humanitarian affairs and emergency relief coordinator, stated that Palestinians in northern Gaza are experiencing “indescribable horrors” under the siege imposed by Israeli forces.
In a post on X, Msuya remarked, "Appalling news from northern Gaza, where Palestinians continue to suffer unspeakable horrors under siege by Israeli forces."
She added, "In Jabalia, people are trapped under the rubble, and first responders are blocked from reaching them. Tens of thousands of Palestinians are being forcibly displaced. Essential supplies are running out. Hospitals, overwhelmed with patients, have been hit."
Msuya stressed, "These atrocities must stop. Under international humanitarian law, civilians, the wounded and sick, and healthcare personnel and facilities must be protected. International humanitarian law must be respected. Israel must comply with the provisional orders of the International Court of Justice."
