Merkel Didn't Say That Muslim Streets Are Stained With Blood

The Claim

German Chancellor Angela Merkel says Muslims have one God, one book, and one messenger, yet their streets have been stained red with their blood.

Emerging story

A post shared hundreds of times on Arabic social media accounts and news websites claim the German Chancellor Angela Merkel says that Muslims have one God, one book, and one messenger, yet their streets have been painted red with their blood: “The killer shouts 'Allahu Akbar' and the murdered shouts the same thing.”

Among those who shared this statement through their personal social media accounts are academics such as Professor of Media at King Saud University, Abdulaziz al-Zahrani, and former President of Cairo University, Jabir Nassar.

Misbar’s Analysis

Misbar's investigation found that these statements are false, as German Chancellor Merkel did not say anything mentioned in the previous posts. There is nothing to support this claim.

In addition, Merkel stated that "4.6 million Muslims live in Germany and that their religion has become a part of it," in response to the statement of Interior Minister Zehofer, in which he considered that Islam "does not belong to Christian Germany."
