A video that has been viewed hundreds of thousands of times in online posts claims to show US pop star Lady Gaga reciting verses from the Quran.
The 43-second video depicts a woman singing into a microphone.
Online posts claimed that the US singer and actress Stefani Joanne (alias Lady Gaga) startled America and Europe by reciting "Sourate al-Douha."
Misbar’s Analysis
Misbar’s reverse image search of a screenshot of the video led to news reports in Arabic that shows that the singer in the video is a Tunisian singer called Sofia Sadek. The official YouTube channel for Radio Med, a Tunisian radio station, published the video with an Arabic–Language title that translates as "Sofia Sadiq for the first time recited the Holy Quran in an interview."
The claim that Lady Gaga was reciting the Quran is false.
