A long-circulated video with an audio clip is claimed to be a conversation between a U.S. Navy ship and a lighthouse warning it of the danger of a rock collision course. The clip is claimed to depict a different alleged place each time.

Misbar's investigation concludes that this claim is an urban myth. According to the Fast Company in August 31, 1999, the myth has being circulated many times for over 25 years. Communications expert Michael Sitrick even used it in the beginning of a book.
