As of July 2020, users on social media, specifically Twitter, began circulating claims surrounding a new gender identity, clovergender. Clovergender is purportedly the phenomenon of a child being trapped in an adult’s body and who is attracted to children. It is also known as ‘trans-age.’

Misbar’s investigation into this claim reveals it to be false. While trans-age is a real phenomenon with individuals living such lifestyles, the label clovergender itself seems to have been made up as a prank in 2017 on the internet forum 4chan.org.
The hoax appears to have been created to mock people with non-binary gender and sexual identities.
