In late June 2020, users on social media began circulating the claim that Paw Patrol, a children’s TV show, had been cancelled due to the controversial existence of police after the 2020 Black Lives Matter protests. Two other long-standing shows, Cops, and Live PD, have both been canceled, and social media users have speculated about what other cultural shifts may take place as a result of the movement.

Misbar’s investigation into this claim reveals it to be false. Nickelodeon is still airing Paw Patrol. Sources as well-connected as Eric Trump, son of the President, have stated that there is an effort to cancel the show. Nickelodeon does air Black Lives Matter commercials on its network.
Showing support for the movement does not mean that the show about police and firefighter puppies has been canceled, however.
