Misbar’s investigation found that the image was used by CBS in a broadcast about a mysterious symptom inflicting children who were suffering from COVID-19. However, the image is about 7 years older than what the Gateway Pundit stated. However, the image is about 7 years older than what the Gateway Pundit stated. We were able to track the image to a blog about steroids dated as early as 2009. The article it belonged to was not dated, but through a simple source code check of it’s earliest known online publication it was clearly from 2009, not 2016 as stated by the Gateway Pundit.

The CBS anchor who was announcing the story briefly mentioned that the “mysterious symptoms resemble Kawasaki disease.”

The image was used as an example of what Kawasaki disease looks like, not as a deceptive depiction of COVID-19.
