Emerging story
A video of jets forming a tricolor in the skies is going viral, claiming that this was how France bid farewell to Rafales destined for India. The video shows jets forming synchronized smoke trails of green, white, and red colors.
The video went viral on Facebook and Twitter.
Misbar’s Analysis
This is not the first time Misbar investigates this video clip, as the circulating claims concerning the video are false. In June, the same video went viral claiming that it’s a video of Italian aerobatics celebrating the record of zero death cases of coronavirus in Milan Italy. Misbar’s search revealed that the video shows Italian jets flying over Milan’s Duomo Cathedral on Monday, May 25, 2020. The show aims to pay tribute to the victims of the pandemic, and the tour will end on the 74th anniversary of the Italian Republic Day on June 2. Agencies reported that the Frecce Tricolori aerobatic squad of the Italian Airforce flew on the 74th anniversary to bring a message of unity and solidarity during the coronavirus pandemic.
The same video went viral last year as well with the claim that this was how India’s Independence Day was marked in London’s Trafalgar Square.
The video of jets forming a tricolor in the skies has nothing to do with Rafales.
