Social media users have been widely circulating news that there are links between 5G wireless networks and the origins of the coronavirus. Users claimed that 5G technology causes COVID-19. Users referred to a study that shows that 5G millimeter waves could be absorbed by dermatologic cells acting like antennas, transferred to other cells, and play the main role in producing COVID-19 in biological cells.

Misbar’s investigation found the all the circulating claims about 5G linked to COVID-19 false. According to the World Health Organization viruses cannot travel on radio waves/mobile networks. COVID-19 is spreading in many countries that do not have 5G mobile networks. COVID-19 is spread through respiratory droplets when an infected person coughs, sneezes, or speaks. People can also be infected by touching a contaminated surface and then their eyes, mouth, or nose.
