On December 1 2015, the publication Now8News published the original story that a homeless couple had been found living in the attic of a Tennessee Walmart after two years, and had stashed a meth lab and flat screen TV during that time. Since then the story has gone viral and been repeated many times on social media, including on Twitter.

Now8News is a site that publishes exclusively fabricated stories (‘Fake News’), like one in which they say President Obama lowered the age of consent to 13. Furthermore, the mug shots in the story are taken from other instances, one from 2012, for example.
