Emerging story
Upon landing at Tampa International Airport in Florida, President Trump delivered a speech to a number of individuals gathered to greet him. Users across social media platforms began debating if the White House had digitally altered a photo of the crowd to make it appear larger than it actually was.
Misbarโs Analysis
Misbar’s investigation shows that the claim is fake. A digitally altered photo was released showing more people in attendance at the rally than there actually were, and President Trump did claim that there were “massive numbers of cheering people gathered along the roads and highways, thousands and thousands, even bigger (by far) than the crowds of 2016.” However, the picture was not altered by the White House. The false image circulated is believed to have been created by a Facebook user instead, who has since deleted the image. However, on Twitter that user stated that he meant the image as a joke.
