Following heavy rainfall in Mumbai late August 2020, social media users began sharing a video depicting a young boy being rescued from a drain filled with rainwater. They claim the video takes place in Dongri, Mumbai.
Misbar’s Analysis
Misbar’s investigation found that the video is actually from Karachi, Pakistan. We conducted a reverse image search using still images from the video and found it was actually from a July 28, 2020 incident, also following heavy rain. Jang News and Geo News reported on the incident.
Karachi has been issued an NDMA advisory following the intensive summer of rain.
