The Claim

A picture of burnt imported cars on the port of Beirut after the devastating explosion. 

Emerging story

Social media users and news websites published a photo claiming it is imported cars that were burnt in Beirut's explosion. The claim was widely circulating across the MENA region.
The picture circulating shows rows of cars burnt and damaged along with smoke all around claiming it was taken during Beirut’s explosion.
 
Some users claimed the cars were imported from abroad and were brand new.


Some news websites used the circulating picture in the news reports.

Misbar's image search found that the picture in the circulating claim is not related to Beirut's explosion. 
Ng Han Guan took this photo on August 13, 2015, from a site of an explosion that reduced a parking lot filled with new cars to charred remains at a warehouse in northeastern China's Tianjin municipality.

More than 100 people had lost their lives in China’s 2015 explosions which had occurred in a warehouse in the port area of Tianjin which was said to be caused by the illegal storage of 11,300 tonnes of hazardous chemicals.
