As far back as 2015, Twitter users have posted that Donald Trump’s notable ‘Make America Great Again’ hats are made in China. Such rumors continue to circulate across social media in August 2020, including on Twitter. Many owners of the hats post photos of the tag of the hat, which says ‘Made in China.’

Misbar’s investigation into this claim reveals it to be false. All of the MAGA hats that are made in China are not official Trump campaign hats. All official Trump campaign hats are made in the US, but there are many knock-offs available from Amazon to street corners in Washington, D.C. Most of the knock-offs are indeed made in China.
