Emerging story
A photo of Donald Trump’s eldest two sons, Donald Trump Jr. and Eric Trump, has been circulating on social media, specifically Twitter, since at least 2017, and continues to do so now in 2020. The photo is extremely unflattering, and has been used as the basis for many memes, tweets, and other efforts to mock the first family.
Misbar’s Analysis
Misbar’s investigation into this claim reveals it to be false. The photograph in question is not genuine, but has been digitally altered on purpose, ostensibly to present the first family in an unrealistically unflattering light. The original photo was taken on November 12th, 2005, during Donald Trump Jr.’s wedding reception at his father’s Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida. Many subtle and not-so-subtle changes to the photo were made to make the subjects less appealing, including changes to the lips, teeth, neck, eyes, etc. The right photo below shows the original image.
