In late July, 2020, the blog The 13th Floor published an article with the headline, “Did Adolf Hitler Really Invent the Sex Doll?” The title of the article was subsequently morphed into an implied claim and went viral on social media, specifically Twitter, with users claiming in the affirmative that Hitler did in fact invent the sex doll.

Misbar’s investigation into this claim reveals it to be false. In the aforementioned article itself, the author admits that his clickbait title was a hoax, writing, “Sadly, the evidence in support of this having actually happened is sketchy, so it probably isn’t a true story. But ‘Hitler invented the sex doll’ is such an awesome idea, we should pretend it happened anyway. I mean, what’s Hitler gonna do about it now, right?” Interestingly, it seems that inflatable sex dolls were not even available during the WWII era.
